Beginning Handbuilt Pottery Course (Thursday Mornings)
Learn how to hand-build your own pottery without the potter’s wheel. In this fun and productive class you will learn how to create your own plates, cups, bowls, and vases using simple pinch, coil, and slab techniques. We may also venture into using molds! We’ll be focusing on functional pieces from lidded jars to beautiful dishes, then making them beautiful with decorative techniques like sgraffito, carving, stamping, and of course glazing! Hand building is a perfect place for beginners to start in clay! Practice makes perfect, so extra open studio time is included. This is a perfect class to slow down and create some unique pieces in clay. Your first bag of clay and basic tools are also included, so get ready to be inspired!
Dates: 6 weekly sessions beginning Thursday, July 24 (Makeup dates September 4 and September 11, if needed)
Time: Thursdays, 10 am - 12:30 pm
Instructor: Gabriella King
Includes: Open Studio time, 1st bag of clay, use of studio tools & glazes, storage space, kiln firing
