Drawing In Clay, A Carving and Scraffito Workshop (Saturday, May 31, 4-7pm)
In this relaxing workshop, students will learn the ins and outs of carving into leatherhard clay to create lively imagery. Bring your zentangles, your doodles, your favorite images or cartoons to inspire your work. We will cover planning and mapping out a grid for pattern work, carving positive vs. negative imagery, and carving through colors. We will profile 4 different artists with 4 different approaches to drawing and carving on their clay. Bring some leatherhard pieces to play on, or your favorite brushes or carving tools! We will have all the scrap paper, drawing tools, colors, and carving tools you will need. We will experiment with carving through different types and colors of clay as well. Come spend the day experimenting and decorating clay with us in this one day class.
